It’s often called the “silent killer”: Ovarian cancer.
But those who have been affected by it, either directly or indirectly, are looking to end the silence and get the word out in hopes of saving lives.
On Friday, a group of survivors, family members and supporters gathered at Ladd Eye Clinic in Batesville to release teal and white balloons to mark the occasion and raise awareness. The balloon release serves as a reminder that September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.
Dale Ladd held the event at his clinic out of honor for his aunt, Teresa Ashley, who had succumbed to the disease six years ago after five years of battling it. Before her death, Ashley dedicated herself to raising awareness about ovarian cancer.
