Renewables are coming — just don’t depend on them to produce the majority any time soon.
That was the message of Paige Miller, director of the Arkansas Energy Rocks program.
“We are still wholly reliant on fossil fuels and will be for the rest of our lifetime,” Miller told the Batesville Rotary Club on Monday at Kelly Wyatt’s Resturant in Batesville. “Renewables haven’t [become] affordable enough to be used in a widespread manner.”
The Energy Information Agency of the federal government says Americans will be using 14.5 percent renewables for energy production by 2040.
