Laura McWilliams was always set on attending college out of state to obtain her bachelor’s degree.
But it wouldn’t be long before she learned that the best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry.
As a young girl, McWilliams was always interested in science — so much so that it eventually became her career. And, it’s one that has taken her from the classrooms of Arkansas to the statehouse of California, and many places in between.
McWilliams, a 2007 graduate of Lyon College, is a policy fellow with the California Council on Science and Technology. As a policy fellow, she works with members of the California Assembly to make informed public policy decisions with the responsible application of science and technology in mind.
