Bill would open UACCB staff to conceal carry

A bill permitting college campus conceal carry is making its way through the Arkansas Legislature.

The bill, HB 1249, is sponsored by Rep. Charlie Collins, R-Fayetteville, and was sent to the full Senate by the eight member Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday.

The bill, which is titled “an act concerning the possession of a concealed handgun in a public university, public college or community college building and for other purposes,” seeks to allow employees of of those facilities who have concealed carry licenses to bring their weapon onto school grounds.

The bill would require public universities to allow faculty and staff with concealed carry permits to carry their firearms on campus.
