When White River Health System announced its medical residency program in January, it was expected that a lot of doctors would apply to be in it.
Since then, WRHS has had more than 1,000 candidates apply for the 10 positions available in the program,
That’s according to James Mack Street, facility administrator of the WRMC Medical Complex at Cherokee Village. Street gave the news at the monthly meeting of the Sharp County Quorum Court on Monday.
“I think that’s absolutely amazing and a credit to the program that’s starting in Batesville on July 1,” Street said. “The national match will come March 17, so one day this week we’ll know what’s taking place.”
