JPs asked to consider how they choose waterworks board members

The Sharp County Quorum Court appointed Darrell Kehrli and Anne Verkler to the Cherokee Village Waterworks Facilities Board of Sharp County in another short meeting on March 13. But questions were raised about appointing elected officials from Cherokee Village the next time the appointments come around.

“Where did those names come from?” asked Peter Martin, a resident of Cherokee Village. “How does someone get on that list to be on the waterworks board? There’s only two people up here from Cherokee Village that deal with it and the rest of you are voting for something that doesn’t even affect you. So, I’d like to know that because it would be nice to see a person from the Village, an official elected by the people, to be represented on that board.”
