Both Independence County and its northern neighbor, Sharp County, are feeling the post-holiday sales decline.
For retailers, it means adopting a post-holiday strategy to keep the customers coming. Some already begin preparing for the next shopping season before Christmas arrives.
“We keep our advertising strategy fairly simple,” Bob Miller, communications coordinator with Hobby Lobby, said. “Every week Hobby Lobby runs an ad in local papers showing discounted items marked 30-50 percent off. The published ad as well as our mobile app contains a 40-percent-off coupon for one regularly priced item. That is our consistent strategy and our customers have come to expect it.”
