As a victim of extreme abuse early in her life, she suffers from flashbacks that can cause her to temporarily disconnect with the world around her and often she finds herself trapped in nightmares that can make sleep unbearable.

“I was diagnosed with PTSD,” Heath, a victim of sexual abuse, said. “I’ve been through a lot.”

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is often thought of as a soldiers’ issue, but anyone who has been through traumatic events can suffer with it. A person with PTSD will often find themselves living through the events that damaged them over and over again. They often live with a heightened sense of danger, often being triggered by things other consider un-noteable in everyday life.
