From shooting balls to climbing rope, Dreadnought does so without complaint.
But while it can’t talk back, the robot named after the ships made famous during World War I, is ready for battle — and battle it did with a group of Batesville High School students controlling its every move during the recent FIRST World Championship in Houston.
The students dedicate both class and free time to building robots, which eventually go on to face others from other schools around the world in competitions across the U.S, and in Houston, the Pioneers Robotics team finished 36 out of 67 teams.
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1989 with the goal of helping young people discover and develop a passion for science, technology, engineering and math.
