Solar power is being embraced in Arkansas, according to John Bethel, executive director of the Arkansas Public Service Commission.
Bethel was speaking to the Batesville Rotary Club last week, explaining what the commission does and and discussing energy developments around the state, including the ongoing case involving the Independence Power Plant at Newark.
“The Public Service Commission is the state agency that regulates utility companies,” Bethel said. “There are three commissioners appointed by the governor and they’re appointed to six-year terms.”
Bethel said commissioners serve standard terms so that every two years there is an opportunity for the governor to make a new appointment.
