Education, like many other sectors of the economy, is constantly changing. Unlike most other sectors, public education puts students, not profits, first.
For new Batesville School District Superintendent Dr. Michael Hester that means fulfilling the school’s new motto of “working as a family for continuous improvement.”
Hester touched on this motto, the district’s educational philosophy and its goals at the weekly meeting of the Batesville Rotary Club at Kelley Wyatt’s Restaurant in Batesville last week.
“I’m here to talk to you today about ‘Students First,’” Hester said. “That’s going to be our branding for Batesville Public Schools. Each year we’ll have a motto and this year’s motto is ‘working as a family for continuous improvement.’”
Hester said that the education business is essentially a people business. But, it’s also more than a business; it’s an educational family.
“We take care of each other and the families that we have in our care,” Hester said.
