CAVE CITY — The state of Cave City’s community building dominated discussion at its monthly city council meeting Tuesday night.
“It’s not in good shape,” Mayor Jonas Anderson said of the city’s community center.
He said he spoke to a contractor who came and evaluated what the city may need and if the current community building could get a new roof. The contractor was only being asked for his opinion; no renovation or new construction has been scheduled for the community center.
Anderson said he was told the outside walls of the building are settling and cracks are showing up in the wall. He said that he and another city employee had gone up into the ceiling to fix leaks in the roof with rubber sealant and had found pinholes that had been rusted through all over the building. In other spots, rot has set in.
